Le Visham

After a packed few months of events Battle for Britain LHG are gearing up to end the season with a bang at Le Visham on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway with our friends from Das Reich, Kompanie 1, FRAU and more.

This weekend sees Levisham station converted into 1943 French station Le Visham where
German scientists supported by a Luftwaffe unit, protected by elements of the Wehrmacht are setting up an experimental rocket site. This is the precursor to the employment of the famous V-1 (doodlebug) rocket used in the bombardment of Southern Britain.

• A replica Walter 2.3 launch ramp complete with Fiesler Fi103A missile will be set up in the paddock. The replica is fitted with an engine simulator which will be demonstrated hourly.
• Scientists and technicians will work on the missile system and display this to the public
• Due to possible “resistance” activity, a security detachment is on watch at the station for suspicious characters. Regular patrols will be made into the surrounding countryside.
• PK cameramen and a film unit will record the event for propaganda purposes
• The station remains fully operational throughout the exercise.

Additionally, we have managed to acquire a signed Gary Cahill England football shirt from the England vs Ghana game earlier in the year to auction off for the British Legion. We’re currently deciding how best to offer this item but will advise on how to make your bids shortly.
